WinRM as been added as an option to connect to Windows Servers and VM's. This is a native Microsoft Windows connection protocol and as offered as a compliment to our existing psexec connection protocol for Windows.
WinRM works natively with Microsoft Windows, and is better maintained and supported. However, in order to utilize WinRM, the following conditions are required:
Existing Customers
Hosted Version
- immediately available, no action required, and simply select WinRM when adding Microsoft servers via the add server wizard
Self Hosted Version
- Customers are required to have a director running on RHEL/CENTOS v7.x
- If your Director install is running on RHEL/CENTOS v7.x, please install the
POWERSHELL tools (please note, we do not support proposed solutions to run powershell on older versions of rhel/centos and this may result in corrupting your director install)
- Access your ADMIN GUI, and select the normal GUI update wizard to update the GUI to the latest stable release
Future Customers
- Any customer, hosted or self hosted, from this day forward, will automatically have this configured on their directors, and GUIs, and no further action is required
- Please Note **** we will be defaulting now to CentOS7.x (which is already the current default) for ALL new Self Hosted Version installs. If a customer absolutely must use older versions of CentOS/RHEL, the WINRM feature will not be available on their installs
