Unlike the Linux FD installation (which is completely automated and can be done directly from the B4H GUI), the Windows FD installation requires some manual intervention to install the FD agent on the client/server.

The Bacula4Hosts GUI will create and generate a config for you (which you can copy and paste as per below) - and will create all Director settings and configurations for you as well

  • Login to the client server and download the appropriate exe file listed in your "Home" tab of Bacula GUI and decompress (it is advisable to download and install all the .exe's related to your architecture - ie x32 or x64 AND to download and install the following scripts file - bacula4hosts.1.1.exe)
  • Open TCP 9102 in the Windows Firewall (inbound) if it not already open and name the rule Bacula Backups.
  • Install the FD installer (like bacula-enterprise-win32-6.x.xx.exe) first, then followed by any plugins like bacula-enterprise-win32VssPlugin-6.x.xx.exe  and lastly like bacula4hosts.1.x.exe
DO NOT enter any information when installing.
Click NEXT AND/OR INSTALL ALL THE WAY THROUGH UNTIL DONE (the config is generated by bacula4hosts - see step 2 below - so, nothing needs to be entered during installation)

Step 2) Login to WHMCS/Bacula

  • On the Home tab/screen you will see baculahome
  • Navigate to "Clients" tab and scroll to bottom to click "Add server"
  • Select the proper OS and enter details
  • Copy the generated config file (ctrl+A or select all) and navigate to C:\Program Files\Bacula\bacula-fd.conf on the client server, open with notepad, then paste the details from the config generator in the bacula4hosts GUI, and save.
  • Restart Bacula File Backup service on client server (under Services)
  • Navigate to "Dashboard" tab in the GUI and you will see the server listed
  • You can then click the icon for "run job"
  • You can navigate to the "Jobs" tab in top navigation and this will be listed momentarily/immediately.
