Hello,
Once you have signed up for an account and want to start backing up a server or virtual machines, please follow the steps below
Dedicated Storage Daemon (dedicated storage device/server)
1) add a storage device (dashboard > install storage)
- proceed with the storage installer
2) add servers (servers > add server)
- proceed with the client install wizard
3) if you would like to kick off a backup job right away vs waiting for the scheduled job to run > goto your server list and press the backup now icon
Backing up to the same server (ie Storage Daemon and Server are the same physical device)
- although we do not recommend backing up data to the same physical server, we understand many service providers are configured this way and often backup to different drives/raid arrays on the same physical node
- for now, we support RHEL/CENTOS v5/v6 for Storage Daemons (SD's). You can only backup to the same physical server if you have RHEL/CENTOS v5/v6 installed on the server. Future versions of ClusterLogics will support additional Operating Systems for Storage Daemons. You can however backup Windows and Linux servers to any Storage Daemon installed on a supported Linux server
1) open up your firewall as described above
2) go through the storage wizard and install the SD client on your client (Server)
3) during the install process, specify the path you would like your backup data to go to
4) create a storage pool. So, if you would like a pool of 1000GB, set 10 volumes of 100GB each or 20 volumes of 50GB, etc (we recommend volumes of 50GB,) - you can later increase the pool size by increasing the # of volumes
5) go through the add client wizard and install the FD (file daemon) on your client/server
6) if you would like to kick off a backup job right away vs waiting for the schedule to set > goto your server list and press the backup now icon
